Surprise: Faraday Future Still Exists and Just Delivered Its First Vehicle

surprise faraday future still exists and just delivered its first vehicle

Here’s something likely very few people had on their 2023 Bingo cards: Faraday Future has delivered a vehicle. To a customer. Who paid money. The first FF91 EV delivery took place over the weekend, finally putting an end to the will they, won’t they conversation surrounding the brand.

To be clear, we’re talking about one (1) vehicle, but it’s one more than many expected. Faraday delivered the vehicle to a buyer in California on August 12 and said it plans to deliver others in the near future. The 2.0 Futurist Alliance launch model carries a price tag of $309,000 and an EPA-estimated range of 381 miles. With 1,050 horsepower on tap, the vehicle touts a 2.2-second 0-60 mph time and a 155-mph top speed.

The FF91’s price puts it in rarified air among EVs. Lucid’s Air sedan sports a six-figure price tag, but it’s roughly half the outlay for an FF91. The automaker claimed over 60,000 reservations when it announced the SUV, but it’s unclear how many of those have stuck around over the last six years while the company got its act together. Faraday has other models planned, including a $249,000 Alliance model and a lower-cost variant down the road. The company has struggled with financial issues for years and built its first prototype years ago, so it’s been a long road to reach its first delivery.
