The RX is one of Lexus’ best-selling models but has never been offered in a plug-in hybrid configuration. That’s changing for 2024 with the Lexus RX 450h+, which brings an estimated 83 MPGe and a $70,080 price tag.
The SUV goes on sale later this year, bringing a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and hybrid system shared with the NX hybrid. The combo delivers a 35-mile all-electric driving range and a 6.2-second 0-60 mph time and can recharge at home in about 2.5 hours using 240-volt power. Full-time all-wheel drive is standard.
The RX 450h+ gets the features from the standard model’s luxury trim, which includes 21-inch wheels, a head-up display, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, and an optional 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.
Lexus recently updated its infotainment system, making it more usable, responsive, and less distracting. It runs on a standard 14-inch touchscreen in the RX 450h+, and the display uses a glass screen with an anti-reflective coating that Lexus said is closer to the screens people are used to on smartphones. The interface also offers cloud-based navigation, an intelligent assistant, and an available digital key system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, along with several advanced safety features in the standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 package.
