2025 Ram 1500 Rev -- Range Extension

One of the challenges of EV adoption is range, or lack thereof. But as the technology improves, range gets closer and closer to what's offered by internal-combustion vehicles.

See the 2025 Ram 1500 Rev for evidence.

To be clear, we all know that claimed range and real-world range aren't the same thing, with range often dipping substantially if drivers are heavy-footed, or the weather is cold, or the vehicle is used for towing. So we're going to approach Ram's claims with appropriate skepticism.

Those claims are this: The Rev will have a range of up to 350 miles with the standard 168-kWh battery pack and up to 500 miles with the optional 229-kWh battery pack.

Ram is also claiming the ability to add 110 miles of range in 10 minutes on an 800-volt DC fast charger at up to 350 kW. The truck offers Level 1 or 2 AC charging, as well.

Does the Ram Rev have a front trunk? Frunk yeah, it does, and it measures a claimed 15 cubic feet.

The Rev is offering vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-grid (and vice versa) charging. The bed has an onboard panel that can provide up to 7.2 kW of power, and the frunk will have a similar panel that can give users up to 3.6 kW of juice.

Towing matters to truck buyers, and as such the Ram Rev has a max capacity of 14,000 pounds, with a max payload of up to 2,700 pounds.

The truck makes use of Stellantis' new STLA Frame body-on-frame platform, which is built specifically for full-size EVs. Like, say, an EV full-size truck.

Other available highlights: A 14.5-inch touchscreen for the UConnect 5 infotainment system, a 12.5-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10.25-inch screen for passengers, a digital rearview mirror, premium audio, heated and cooled seats, and a head-up display. And that's just the interior.

Ram is promising an upcoming XR trim that will offer even more range, and this truck gets a fully-loaded Tungsten trim. Other trims include Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, and Limited.

Ram is targeting a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, thanks to 654 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. Off-roaders take note -- Ram is claiming up to 14 inches of water fording.

Ram's Rev uses two 250-kilowatt electric motors, one on each axle. This allows for all-wheel drive, though the front wheels can spin freely in certain conditions. The rear axle has an electronic locking differential.

There are more tricks up this truck's sleeve. The rear suspension is independent, and all four wheels get an air suspension with active damping and five modes. The wheels are 20 or 22 inches, depending on what you choose.

There's the usual suite of driver-aid systems, and drivers can use their phone as a key. Key EV data can be accessed in the infotainment system. Oh, and like with most EVs, there is one-pedal driving.

You say you want a Revolution? With apologies to the Fab Four, you can get one from Ram -- though we don't yet know when, or how much it will cost you.
