If you’re one of the brave men and women who serve in our country’s armed forces, first of all, thank you. Second of all, Ram is bringing back its “Built to Serve Edition” line of 2020 1500 trucks for its second installment. This time, the two colors that are offered—Ceramic Gray and Patriot Blue— honor those who serve in the U.S. Navy, and these two trucks look absolutely fantastic. And they’ll be offered in every bodystyle and powertrain combination, too.
Ceramic Gray is clearly inspired by the typical “haze grey” of sea-going naval ships, and Patriot Blue looks very similar to the color of Navy dress blues. These two paint schemes are the third and fourth of 10 color options that all take inspiration from the U.S. armed forces. The models will be rolled out over the next three months, and then Ram will move on to the next Built to Serve Edition to honor the next branch.
Regardless of exterior color, these two nautical special edition trucks receive a black interior and blue contrast stitching on the inside on the seats and steering wheels. There are also velcro panels on the front seats, to allow owners to install whatever patches they see fit, and MOLLE webbing on the seatbacks for attaching other gear or insignia.
On the outside, the trucks get 20-inch aluminum wheels powder coated in a ceramic gray and body-colored wheel arches to compliment the color of that specific truck. They’ll also feature a blacked-out grille, blacked-out bumpers, black side steps, and two four-inch black exhaust tips that are—you guessed it—black. Like all Built To Serve Edition 1500s, each will feature a U.S. flag and a “Built to Serve” decal on the rear quarter panels.
Underneath the military-honoring skin is the Ram Big Horn trim, a mighty capable truck. Keep in mind, the Ram 1500 was MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year in 2019. The Built to Serve Editions get the 4×4 Off-Road Group, including all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear differential, hill-descent control, and a host of other off-road goodies to ensure you get to pretty much wherever you’re trying to go—beaten path or otherwise.
This set of Built To Serve trucks will be ready to roll by Flag Day this year, June 14, and all of this kit is just a $2,795 option, so be sure to keep and eye out for one of these sweet rides on your way to the dealership.
